Balanced effort provides Schlagle blowout victory

A balanced inside attack from Darius Hill, LaRay Young (pictured top) and the returning Rozell Nunn (pictured left) led Schlagle to a 62-34 victory Friday night against Benton.
The Stallions, after falling behind at home 6-0, scored the game's next 14 points. They would never relinquish the lead.
Young scored six of the Stallions' first eight points of the game. Nunn added four points in the quarter, providing Schlagle an 18-7 advantage.
"It's nice to get the season off to an 1-0 start," said Dave Gonzales, head coach at Schlagle. "I wasn't really happy the way we finished the game. We did some things we shouldn't have done."
After coming into the second half with a 30-18 advantage, Hill took over things in the third, providing a boost to Schlagle's advantage.
Hill scored all 14 of his team-high points in the third quarter, helping Schlagle take a 50-30 lead into the final quarter.
"He was frustrated in the first half," Gonzales said. "We talked to him about not getting his third foul but he did. He went out in the second half and played well."
The sophomore Young scored 10 points overall. But it was the returning Nunn that displayed a nice inside (and outside) shot. Last year, he spent the season on the sidelines with an injury.
In his first game in two years, he scored 12 points.
"He did pretty well," Gonzales said. "He just makes plays and it was nice to see him back on the court."
Benton was led by Austin Parrot's 18 points.
