Barring any last second adjustments, here are the notable budget cuts expected to the outside agencies that help service Wyandotte County.

  • Kaw Valley Arts: Funding for KVA will remain at $15,029, the same budget figure from the 2010 adjusted budget. The organization received $43,629 in UG funding from just two years ago.
  • Children's Museum: With the museum outside of Wyandotte County, the UG will provide no funding for it.
  • Law Library: The UG will provide no funding in 2011, down from $23,060 last year. The library's board will receive no funding as well.
  • Wyandotte County Mental Heath: Funding for mental health will be reduced from $565,868 to $453,867. An agreement between the UG and the Wyandot Center will restore the 2012 funding level to the $565,000 figure.
  • Wyandotte County Extension Council: Although the extension council received an $80,000 boost to the proposed budget this week, it will still see a budget reduction from $388,050 to $275,050.
  • Wyandotte County Convention and Visitors Bureau: Funding will drop from $675,000 to $607,500 in 2011.
  • Wyandotte County Fair: Besides ribbons and other state-mandated funding, the county will provide no funding for the fair this year, saving $154,398 from last year's adjusted budget.

Overall in 2011, the UG will pay outside agencies $1,731,834 in funding, down from the $2,192,676 figure in 2010.
