A Kansas City, Kan., firefighter was injured this morning after the department responded to a structure fire at 2921 Cissna.

The firefighter injured a shoulder after responding to the fire. The firefighter was transported to a local hospital.

Along with an injury, the fire caused about $35,000 in damage. The cause remains under investigation.

"Fire crews on the scene within three minutes reported fire showing from a two-story structure," said Craig Duke, a spokesperson for the department. "Crews made interior attack on fire; primary search of structure was negative. BPU called to shut off utilities. The fire was under control within 20 minutes."

The fire was reported just shortly after midnight on Monday morning.
