More on this morning's Roswell fire: Three fire personnel injured; two dogs killed
Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department Battalion Chief and spokesperson Craig Duke provided an update on this morning’s fire on the 4500 Block of Roswell.
The fire injured three fire fighters, as opposed to the previously reported number of two.
Two firefighters have sprained ankles, while another suffered minor degree burns.
Along with the injures, the family who occupied the house had two dogs killed in the fire. A pet turtle survived. Damage to the property resulted is estimated at $75,000, while $20,00 in content was lost.
"Crews were on the scene within four minutes and reported heavy fire coming from a two-story wood frame structure," Duke said. "All occupants had self evacuated. Fire crews performed an interior attack; crew’s evacuated structure when signs of a roof collapse were evident. Fire was under control after two hours."
Duke said the fire remains under investigation.
