Three suspects in home invasion case wounded; UPDATE: Fourth arrested

Kansas City, Kan., police officers responded to a case of home invasion just shortly after 2 p.m. today at the 2400 Block of N. 47th Street.

When arriving after being called to the scene, they found one suspect wounded by gunshot near the home. The suspect was transported to a local hospital by EMS.

Meanwhile, two other suspects were located at an area hospital after they apparently were receiving medical treatment.

The suspects were NOT wounded by police in this case. None of the home invasion victims were injured.

UPDATE: William Allen White Elementary School and West Middle School were placed on lockdown moments after the shooting. They have since recalled the "lockdown" decision.

FRIDAY UPDATE: The Kansas City Star reports a fourth has been arrested.

SLIGHT CORRECTION: The Lawrence Journal-World was the first to report the update about the fourth suspect. It's story and good video can be viewed here. It also appears the suspect was not mentioned as a victim.

On kansascity.com, the reporter called one of the invaders a "victim of a gunshot wound". Sorry, you break in my house, you'll get sprayed with buckshot.
I support self-defense. Uncle Ted would be proud that the homeowners protected their home from these hooligans.

We sure agree on that! Responsible gun ownership goes a long way in fighting crime. I am sure no one will break into that house again if they know what happened.

Uncle Ted for President 2012.

Fred, I cannot agree with you more! I doubt they will even mess with the neighbors.

BTW- Have you read the latest about DC court case about their gun laws? $600 to legally carry and it's the city with the highest crime rate. Hmm. More gun restrictions and they have more crime, but in areas where the process is to assist legal and responsible gun ownership, crime is lower. Amazes me that people believe in gun control.

I pray and will fight it if they ever try and pull that crap in our city.

I've the got the Spirit of the Wild inside of me...

Just think if uncle Ted was President all the money we could save on protection of the President. He would do his own and quite well I am sure.

Here is another conservative side to me....they come in my house and try to harm my family they are getting buckshot wounds too.
Responsible gun ownership and sales should not be a privilege, but a right.

Yeah, it's hard for me to call a thieve a "victim," but some press guidelines probably encourage that type of stuff.

I agree also with all of you on this one. Also, our home is not only armed but has the training and permit for Concealed-Carry. So do not even mess with us or our neighbors as we can protect ourselves and them legally.

The Best Marksman

One of the best marksmen in the FBI was passing through a small town. Everywhere he saw evidences of the most amazing shooting. On trees, on walls, and on fences there were numerous bull's-eyes with the bullet hole in dead center. The FBI man asked one of the townsmen if he could meet the person responsible for this wonderful marksmanship. The man turned out to be the
village idiot.

"This is the best marksmanship I have ever seen." said the FBI man. "How in the world do you do it?"

"Nothing to it," said the idiot. "I shoot first and draw the circles afterward."

Fred's got jokes. (I laughed)

I wish more people would at least attend a NRA 101/gun safety class, or even go as far as you have for your carry & conceal. I've seen more women exercising their right to bear arms at the Bullet Hole. I wear my "Yes, I shoot like a girl" tee shirtI got at the Winchester Armory in Massachusetts.

I told my husband I didn't think I could remain calm enough to carry so I have not taken those steps, but I do have the training if I choose to complete the process.

BTW- a fourth suspect was arrested in Lawrence while he was on a field trip with his school- Schlagle High School. I have a feeling this is the same group of boys that robbed my home two years ago while we were at work and kids were at school, and attempted to rob two other homes nearby. Finally- they got theirs.

Can't resist

A tough old Montana cowboy once told his grandson that, if he wanted to live a long life, the secret was to sprinkle a little gunpowder on his oatmeal every morning. The grandson did this religiously, and he lived to the age of 93. When he died he left 14 children, 28 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren ... and a 15-foot hole in the wall of the crematorium. "

Remember at election time our Mayor Joe Reardon is a member of an "anti-gun" owning group - Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

Don't be deceived by the name of this group. MAIG was founded by anti gun billionaire NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

This group has lobbied Congress against nat'l reciprocity of state Right to Carry permits, for regulating gun shows out of existence, for repealing the Tiahrt Amendment that protects the privacy rights of law abiding gun owners.

When law abiding citizens are denied the right to own guns, only criminals will own guns.

Did you know that you cannot register a handgun bought legally for in-home protection in WYCO without a Concealed-Carry permit? Mayors Against Illegal Guns from Kansas include Mayor Joe Reardon(KCK), Mayor Clausie W. Smith(Bonner Springs, Mayor Larry G. Meeker(Lake Quivira) and Mayor Kenneth W. Bernard(Lansing). The title makes you believe their goal is just illegal guns but...well, read for yourself

That doesn't make sense. You don't register your gun for in home use. When you purchase a gun, federal law prevails, background check, etc. Now, you cannot carry without the permit.
Explain please.
