I see the majority vote is no, but did that same majority vote for Obama in the first place?

Maybe people are awakening to just the kind of "change" Obama wants ... total government control over every area of our lives.

Would Obama run his campaign the same and make the same promises he did the first time? I wouldn't vote for anyone that wants total government control over every area of our lives. I think a lot of people that voted for him first time around wouldn't. I would like to really know how many voted for him because they really believed in him or for other reason's?

That's pretty much my question. How many of the 654 people that responded to this pole actually voted for him in the first place?

I did not, and no one in my family voted for him either. I stood in line and was called a racist because I wasn't wearing an Obama button.
I asked those first time voters why they were voting for their candidates for Congress, Mayor, etc. Blank stares. Had no idea what right they were wasting away that day putting their hope in ONE MAN for change.
Only God has that power, and unfortunately so many viewed Obama as their savior in the election. Wonder what brand of kool aid they drink now?
He and Biden have no clue.

I can't believe people were calling people racist. That tells you right there why they were voting. It couldn't have been for the issues or they would not have said that. And why bring race into it? The old fall back. Racism will never go away, not when you can't even vote because without being called a name. They wouldn't say why they were voting for anyone else because they didn't know. They probably didn't even know who they were.

My son was voting for the first time and as a family we discussed the pros and cons of all candidates. However, maybe 18 is too young to vote because in the end he felt like his vote didn't "really" matter. He was suprised by the turnout at the polls, because he had always gone with me when I voted when he was younger and he never remembered seeing that many people there. I actually had to wait in line for a while, but I didn't hear anything about race. I thought there was some kind of rule about wearing pro this or pro that attire to the polls. Did I make that up in my head?

It's unfortunate that there is no education test for voting. Most people vote emotionally, not with their heads. If people had done their research as I did, they would know that Obama is a constitutionalist. In addition, what was reflected in elections held November 3, 2009 is also a lack of knowledge. People wrongly believe the ONLY important election is the presidential election----NOT. Congress is the legislative branch of power. Congress deems what the president will have opportunity to sign. Congress is what creates laws that affects EVERY aspect of our lives. After the US Congress, drop it to state level.

Regardless, to blame Obama for the lack of courage Congress has shown this year is wrong. To blame Obama for not being able to change the federal system in less than a year; he's only been in office for 9 months, he was ELECTED one year ago, is STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ignorance is why we are in a recession, ignorance will keep us in a recession.

Learn something about the democracy you live in!

Many people disliked Bush's administration, but ignorantly reelected him. What Obama is trying to do is decrease the damage caused by the preceding 20 years of government.

But if voting by what you think you heard on the "news" vs what you read at the House of Representatives or Senate websites, well we'll have a "new" politician in the White House that won't get much done either.

There's nothing wrong with the people who voted for Obama that becoming taxpayers won't cure.

M A. I totally agree with you. Teaching constitutional law and trying to control our entire government is an oxymoron..... It's kinda funny how things get so exaggerated when emotions take over. I guess that's why they call it an oxy "moron".

Blessed are they who find Obama funny, for they shall never cease to be entertained.

Obama motto: "If at first you don't succeed, change the rules."

Have you ever noticed how Obama thinks nothing is impossible as long as somebody else has to pay for it?

Obama motto: "A penny saved is a penny taxed."

Have you ever noticed how Obama thinks nothing is impossible as long as somebody else has to pay for it?

The Obama administration respects our property; they merely wish the property to become their property that they may more perfectly respect it. (Tip o'the hat to G. K. Chesterton.)

The constitution says nothing about redistribution of wealth. One can teach contitutional law by emotion..it happens everyday in our schools and Universities. Let's teach it, read it and implement it the way the framers wrote it. Do a little research on the Revolutionary War and why it happened. History doesn't lie..peoples emotions in re-telling History tend to be slightly slanted.

This is a Kansas City Kansas site...I am sure most people that get on here voted for Obama. Alot of people probably love the annonimity of voting in this poll. I would if I had voted for him. I didn't vote for him because I did my research and I know that all the things he promised he couldn't possibly deliver. Taxes will increase on the middle class..not just the rich. Why is it so wrong to expect people to pull themselves up by their bootstraps instead of relying on the government to do it for them? What is wrong with wanting everyone to succeed by working hard in this great country of opportunity?

Really, did you just say that because this is KCK site that we majority voted for Obama? What kind of comment is that? You do realize that McCain won Kansas, right? I actually agree with M A that all the blame should not fall on the Obama, nor should it all have fallen on Bush. You must make sure you're voting for the right people across the board, not just presidential. You must also make sure you go out for local voting.

SP I think Maggie is right. This may be Kansas but it is Wyandotte county. Yellow dog democrats. I think if you go and get the voting statistics you will find The Big O won by a huge margin in this county. I personally vote for both parties. The only thing is the last democrat I voted for is now a republican. The big tent democratic party could not stand to have a pro-lifer in the senate.

I somewhat agree with you and who gets the blame. The only thing is that The big O and congress think pretty much alike this time. Thank God for the new main stream news media like FOX and a few blue dog democrats to keep us informed or we would all be in big trouble.

As an independent, I do/did not vote party lines.
I did my research- NRA, some hunter's group, maybe it was bowhunters, two healthcare blogs, prolife site (and not Operation Rescue either or Kansans for Life), and checked every site I could find where a questionaire was sent to the candidate that lists their replies. I count the number of no responses to issues and look at the responses they did provide, and find the average. If you aren't brave enough to tell me your position why the heck will I give you my vote? (BTW: You can't favor Embryonic Stem Cell research and be against abortion- you are contradicting yourself)
I guess that was why I was so upset waiting in queue to vote. I was branded something I am not, but I did explain to those in line (did they listen? not sure) that on the ticket, there were members of Congress and explained minority/majority in the Senate and balance of power, etc. It was like I was speaking a foreign language.
There was a first time voter- who was retired- and she said no one ever told her how important it was to vote.
Maintstream news is still slanted to one side whether it be FOX, CNN, NBC/CNBC etc. I spend more time on BBC to get facts and then I check the other sites. I do not bother watching or listening to any news channel because they are all FOS. They like the sound of their own voice and listen to no one who differs from their point of view. Ah politics

I think it's great that you educated people while waiting in line. I too am one of those that didn't vote until I was in my late twenties early thirties, because I wasn't taught how important it was to vote. I grew up in a home where honestly politics weren't discussed. I don't even know why, I think that they were just too busy working and trying to make sure the kids (10 of us) were taken care of.

D Thompson I was at one time a democrat. I became disgruntled in the mid 80's and became an independent eventually ended up in the republican party as in doing the investigation like you, I found far more candidates that I agreed with. I do not blindly vote republican. I have voted third party a couple of times and as stated voted for some democrats. I just don't find democrats that even come close to my beliefs at this time. The party in general is not at all lined up with me. I think this pasted election is a result of Bush and republicans spending like drunken a sailor. The banking problems put a nail in it. The problem is now we have a congress and an administration that want to spend like a ship load of drunken sailors.

I think that if a third party or especially an independent can get money this coming election it could prove to be a good one for them. People are paying attention. They are either fed up with the change that see and or are fed up with politics for the politicians.

I think "Ted Nugent" might just be a good one in 2012.

PBS and BBC are great sources of info. I personally am sick and tired of the slant on all the "mainstream" media. I am very thankful that we all have the internet (although you still have to be very careful) to dig deeper in the issues than what the networks want us to hear. It's sad that the political news is no longer just reporting the news but a contest as to see who can persuade the best.

Shawna, I'm not sure that Ted supports canned hunting. He definitely supports hunting and 2nd amendment issues. As for his beliefs on homosexuality, you can't reference the founding fathers views on hunting and ignore their views on homosexuality. They not only felt it was immoral, they made it illegal. Indeed, I think Kansas still may have anti-sodomy laws on the books, but don't know for sure. Many states still do.

I too disagree with hunting animals in confined areas, but I think Ted would make a pretty good president. Certainly closer to the ideals this nation was founded on than the current resident of the White House.

Obama is against gay marriage. I guess that makes him an extremist too. I was joking about Ted in 2012. It's called sarcasm. Just because someone doesn't subscribe to your point of view doesn't mean they are extremists. I beg to differ that the Kansas City Kansan will lose readers because there are Republicans expressing their opinions. Most newspapers in this country are liberal rags and either going under or financially suffering to the point that they won't be around much longer. I think that speaks volumes about the opinions the average American is fed up with.

Gay marriage and thinking homosexuality is immoral is not the same. Ted is extreme and he admits it. And Fred's comments on eugenics is extreme also....which he also admits. Quit trying to put words in my mouth....I never said your republican views would turn off others...but extreme views like supporting the thought that being homosexual is immoral is. As I have said before....read more carefully. But then again...maybe you can't.

Just to let you know....newspapers are NOT going under because they are "liberal rags" as you stated. It's the internet dear.

George W. was very heavy handed on his spending : look at the three trillion dollar deficit he created by his corporate invasion of Iraq. The religious right was All for it because they're suicidal in their beliefs anyway. Armageddon By any means necessary . Remember the first Stimulus package , Let's bail out a bunch of Rich crooks on Wall Street . His brain is detached from the stem
when he tried to think Chaney's hand pushed the puppet to speak about Nationalism Just like his Fascist leanings should have .
His Grandfather did in fact supply money for Germany and it's War machine until the (then ) government stopped him in his tracks realizing it is unlawful to trade with the enemy. Does war even make a profit any more ? Ask uncle Dickh**d Cheney, Haliburton
was moved from the East coast of North America to the Arab Emerites. War is still as sexy these days as all of you log cabin Republicans.

Where have all of the Theodore Roosevelt's gone ? I don't recognize the Republican Party these days . I wish I could go back to the days when They stood for small government instead of creating a network of spies unlike us. The original republicans were Abolitionist , now they are racists. Originally the Republican party was for conservation of the land to protect the forests from ruin ,
now these rino's want to destroy Alaskan territory to find greasy old oil . Let's not even start with In God We Trust , that was put on the monetary unit only back in the 1950's A.D. . What can we learn from History . Nothing if noone reads it . It is pretty sad when Reagan looks like a moderate Today. Obama was criticized by these new republicans for maybe being a foreigner , well what about The terminator of California , he was born in Austria and his father was an S.A. member of the Nazi party.

Explain this canned hunting? Uncle Ted is a farmer and a TRUE conservationist. I know that Uncle Ted and a few other guys that harvest, grow food plots on land, raise and "grow" wildlife to keep the balance of nature.
I know of one of these plots in Basehor, across the state line, Texas and the "great state of Michigan".
Sure, there are things Uncle Ted is a little extreme, but he ADMITS it and does not make it a secret. He explains his reasoning too. That's what I like about him.
Yes, he has disdain for hippies and I wish I could remember his remarks about them.
Ted loves the Constitution. He is an advocate of freedom-all freedoms, that are secured by the Constitution.
Now to address AA- the current Republicans are racists? That's a BOLD statement to call ANY political party RACIST.
The Terminator can never run for the office of the President because he was not BORN IN THE USA, and there were questions regarding Obama's birthplace. The conspiracy theory that his birth certificate was over the top- he proved himself, and then he goes to his "homeland"? The place in question that he says is not his birthplace, but he called it home- WTF?
BTW AA, analysts have compared the spending and policies of the later Bush to Obama and guess what- they are in line with each other. I recall Obama promising to send home all the troops and he's sending more? Hmm.

It may come a surprise to you Shawna but I, as a conservative, am in favor of gay marriage. As usual you resort to personal attacks instead of debating facts. As a Republican I have been disappointed in my party. True Republicans are for smaller government and for the success of every human being regardless of color, creed, sexual orientation etc. Republicans are and always have been for my last sentence. That has never changed! The Republicans have contributed to bigger government over the past few years but the true Republicans like me are tired of it and fighting back. I resent being called a racist and the insinuation of homophobia simply because I am a Republican. I think the other Republicans that post on here probably feel the same way. But you are only doing what all "good liberals" do and that is name call and attack because you can't debate issues based on facts. As the great Ronald Reagan said "It isn't that liberals are ignorant. It's just that they know so much that just isn't so."

Fred- That's Ronald REAGAN. I see that typo way too much and they are different people. Donald REGAN was a Chief Of Staff during the REAGAN Administration.

BTW- Gay marriage has everything to do with someone's point if view on homosexuality- BUT
What makes a gay marriage less sacred than a marriage between a man and a woman?

If its a law of the land, it does not need to be accepted by the laws of a Church, therefore, allowing the government to define a union, is crazy. Some Health Insurance companies allow for domestic partners, which include same sex partners, as long as the state they live in recognizes the union as a partnership.
I have plenty friend who are gay couples raising children and we even have one on TV (Modern Family) The show is wonderful in showing the dynamics of the different families out there raising kids- and doing it well.

Unless someone is a victim- and not a victim as you hurt my feelings, but mental, physical, sexual victims, then why do we allow the damn government to tell us what is offensive or immoral. Like any of them know when we have elected liars and cheaters (in their own marriages), non payers of taxes, defaukt in loans from banks the government fed mney into. Seriously, why do we listen to them? Even though we have some differences, we all defintely have some concerns.

The Kennedy's were as corrupt as they come , No doubt , Most presidents have Dark secrets . Politics in general are about slinging bags of manure at the opposing Party . I just think it's time for a real old fashioned Regular guy like Truman or even Reagan to an extent , these two fellas are more like people I know than slick career politicians. Truman was bold enough to end a war with
an unpopular means of doing so . Kennedy would be considered a conservative by today's standards , this shows how far the left has gone left . Reagan was a great speaker and made the country feel comfortable during tough times . I think Obama has a similar way of delivery . It might take time to make all of the country feel comfortable with him . My Father was a P.O.W. during WWII captured during the Battle of the Bulge .
I consider myself fortunate to be around because of his determination . I support the Troops because They're in deep and don't need the media shoving cameras in their faces . My thinking is as such , the media has put Fear in the American public by constantly broadcasting the war From inside.

WE need to always support our countrymen and women whether we agree about the actual conflict. My brother was in Viet Nam in 66-67 , The country just got a bad taste of the conflict because of two things : The Media , and Washington D.C. . The media left the young feeling betrayed and the Secretary of Defense at that time was inept . Rumsfeld was to Iraq what macnamara was to Viet Nam .Who was the Secretary of Defense During World War Two ?
I don't want to oversimplify the conflicts in the middle East it is a tricky situation and these people clearly don't think like westerners .
I haven't seen kids in my neighborhood (age 5) toting AK-47's with live rounds around my neighborhood

Ok...I do have one question for you Fred. I understand your stance on small government. But please explain to me how having the government dictate what is moral or immoral when it comes to EARLY term abortion? Why can't people make that decision on there own? Mine, for example is that I would never have an abortion, but I dont' think the government has the right to meddle in such a personal issue.

Maggie- if you would not spin what I say...then I would not attack you. I have taken debate and I do know that spinning is not part of the game. Sorry if I did not catch your "sarcasm" from your earlier statements about Ted. With a science background I must have misread your comments as being serious. Did not get any indication that your were joking. BTW - I have never ever called anyone a racist. Your dead wrong about that....again.

D...Let me clarify myself. My opinion is that just because someone doesn't think gay marriage is right doesn't prove a fact that they think homosexuality is immoral. I don't think that they are one in the same. Obama doesn't think it's immoral, but does not accept marriage. This usually comes from one's religious background. I on the other hand disagree with Obama on this issue also. I have many gay friends and think they should be given the same right as everyone else.

Just don't understand how anyone can jokingly or seriously support Ted for President with such a hateful personality. But hey....that is your rightful opinion. I know he is a conservationist...hunting keeps population in control, but hunting animals that are fenced in for his own profit? The operative word here is for PROFIT. That is just flat wrong in my opinion and not someone I would want for President. As for AA's comments...I would vote for Reagan over Ted any day.

I think you need to lighten up a little Shawna. First you call me a bad mother and question whether I have an autistic child and then you call me a homophobe. I wasn't just addressing you on the racist accusation. There are other people on here that I was talking too. If you are as astute as you claim you would have picked up on that. You also called me illiterate but I didn't bring that up. If you are the interlocutor that you have suggested you are, you should be able to come up with some facts. Personal attacks are never acceptable in civil debate.

AA you are so right. Truman did the right thing. I could get on board with a Kennedy Democrat. It is truly a difficult situation in the Middle East. This goes back over a thousand years. I don't know how we fight it. If you read about the culture you will see that it is ingrained in them to kill the infidel. It is their culture. They hate our way of life and if anything we better wake up to this because I fear it is going to get much worse.

Shawna Very simple. I am not a libertarian. The Government has the duty to do certain things and one is to protect life.

If JFK was alive today and you put an R in front of his name. The lefties would hate his guts. I think even with a D in front they would still dislike him. Just give him a little more slack.

He had some great statements.

The charge to go to the Moon.

"Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country"

"We must regain the ability to intervene effectively and swiftly in any limited war anywhere in the world-augmenting, modernizing and providing increased mobility and versatility for the conventional forces and weapons of the Army and Marine Corps. As long as those forces lack the necessary airlift and sealift capacity and versatility of firepower, we cannot protect our commitments around the globe-resist non-nuclear aggressions-or be certain of having enough time to decide on the use of our nuclear power." Man if that dosent sound likie R.R.

"Ich bin ein berlliner"

He also knew that we need thriving economy to pay for social programs.

Sure he had some problems also but in politics you don't get every thing.

I am outa here I leave others to cause the wailing and the gnashing of teeth. Have a great weekend Conservative and Lib's alike!!

Maggie you are very good at rewriting what I say. You would make a hell of a journalist. Not being sarcastic...it's a compliment. Spinning?....yes and your good at it.

"Ohh I forgot... you like those that spew hatred....like his threats to kill Obama, and blaming “stoned, dirty, stinky hippies” for “rising rates of divorce, high school drop-outs, drug use, abortion, sexual diseases and crime. You guys are really showing your ignorance now! You call yourself Republicans but your actually extremists. I am truly embarrassed for you. Keep this crap up and the Kansas City Kansan is going to lose alot of readers. Nobody wants to read that crap."

Really rewriting?

After Fred's quote, "Better hope eugenics never shows it's ugly head in this country. Your son will really be in trouble. With all this talk of saving money here and there in health care it and euthanasia could show up in any system. Pray it doesn't happen."

That is an attack on my son as far as I am concerned. Telling me to pray that euthanasia doesn't show up in our system. How would any loving mother take that? I work around special needs kids everyday...and what you said Fred is very offensive. This is exactly the crap I am talking about that readers don't want to read. Myself included. Attack someone elses special needs child.

And you Maggie...not taking offense to that.....WTF? ( I know you will now put words into my mouth and say I said you were a bad mother) Department of Redundancy Department.
