Caminos: Our Lady of Guadalupe Novena
“Thank you” to the people who forwarded positive calls and emails concerning the article “Our Lady of Guadalupe” featured in last Wednesday’s Kansan.
I was informed recently that All Saints Catholic Church, located at 801 Vermont will conclude a 9-day Novena dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe this evening at 7 PM. If you notice a procession of signers along Central Avenue around 6 PM, this is part of the dedication.
The procession will arrive at the church in time for the Novena. The group are referred to as a Matachines Pilgrimage.
The Novena will be inside the church at 7 PM, where the dance group “Danza Guadalupana” will be a part of the dedication. The members of the dance group are in the age range of 2 years – to 50.
The altar will be set up accordingly, where I am told people arrive through the night to deliver roses and candles. Mariachi music will fill the air at midnight, starting Dec. 12th, then there will be an all-night vigil – starting from midnight until 6 AM, when a 6 AM Mass of celebration begins.
Caminos sends a muchas gracias to Maggie Ramirez of the All Saints Church.
