Kansas City, Kan. —

HAZMAT crews responded to a vacant lot near the Wyandotte Plaza shopping center on State Avenue Friday morning after four or five one-gallon containers holding an unknown substance were found there.

"Our HAZMAT unit responded to the scene," KCK Fire Department Assistant Chief Craig Duke told the Kansan Friday morning. "Whatever the product was, it was contained. There's no leakage, and there's no safety or health issues."

Duke said it hadn't been determined what was in the containers.

The vacant lot is located just east of the Auto Zone store inside the Wyandotte Plaza shopping center, which begins at the corner of 78th and State.
