Unified Government Chief Financial Officer, Jack Manahan, resigned today from his position he has held for more than two years to accept a position with CGI, an international consulting firm, according to a UG press release.
County Administrator Dennis Hays made the announcement to senior staff during a regular meeting Monday morning. In accepting Manahan’s resignation, Hays praised him for his hard work and financial aptitude during his tenure with the Unified Government.
“We appreciate Jack’s leadership as CFO over the past several years,” said Hays. “We’re wishing him the best as he shifts his career to consulting.”
During his tenure as the CFO, Manahan oversaw and lead one of the Departments most challenging reforms by implementing cutting edge financial software system like the COMPASS Project.
This new software will ultimately make the Finance Department and its divisions more efficient. He also reduced the number of funds in the UG budget by closing them into the general fund, and revised the process for lease-financing of major equipment and vehicles.
The Finance Department was awarded The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting under his leadership. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
“When I accepted the position of Chief Financial Officer in 2006, I fully expected that I would stay in this position until I retired,” said Manahan. “My departure is not a reflection on the organization. The people here are some of the most capable and dedicated public servants I have ever worked with.”
Manahan will be working in the capacity of Senior Consultant in his new role. However, he will remain involved with the COMPASS project for the next couple of months.
