Kansas City, Kan. —

A resident who offers information leading to a conviction in connection with the fire at Legend Suzuki on Monday could walk away with enough money to put a down payment on a new car.

The Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department, in partnership with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the KCK Police Department, are jointly offering a reward of $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction for the Aug. 25 fire at the KCK car dealership.

Additionally, the Kansas City Crime Stoppers group is offering an additional $1,000 reward.
Legend Suzuki, formerly known as Chad Franklin Suzuki, located at 68th and State Avenue, was hit by arson in the early morning hours of Aug. 25. The fire damaged or destroyed 12 to 15 vehicles and caused between $250,000 and $350,000 in damage.

The fire was started just days after lawsuits were filed against Legend Suzuki in KCK and Chad Franklin Suzuki in Kansas City, Mo., by the Kansas and Missouri attorneys general. The lawsuits claim the dealerships took part in “unconscionable and deceptive business practices relating to an advertising campaign.”

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call one of the following numbers:
