Child killed in bus accident, teen identified
The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department has released the identification of the nine-year-old killed last week in a bus accident on Thursday, March 4.
Patience N. Cary, a third-grader at John F. Kennedy Elementary School, was killed after she was hit by a bus last Thursday on 66th Street and Parkview Avenue.
Rebecca Vanderpool, 15, has been identified as the victim of the fatality accident on Sunday at 55th Street and Oak Grove Road.
Both families have been identified.
The KCKPD's Traffic Support Unit and Critical Collision Response Team and Major Case Unit are investigating both incidents.
Missouri man injured in I-435 accident
A man was injured after he lost control of his vehicle on I-435 and rolled over twice in a ditch.
Christopher Wheeler was injured on Sunday while traveling northbound on I-435, just north of I-70. Due to weather conditions, he lost control of his vehicle, entering the east ditch. The vehicle then rolled over twice.
Wheeler, 25, was transported to Overland Park Regional Hospital.
The accident happened around 8 a.m. on Sunday.

UPDATE: Eight-year-old dies from earlier car accident
Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department officials released more information about today's accident on I-70 East at I-635.
Among the worst news – an eight-year-old has died as a result of injuries.
Three children were ejected from a car, according to witnesses on the scene. An eight-year-old girl, 10-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl were transported to the emergency room of Children's Mercy Hospital.
Meanwhile, a two-year-old was also transported to Children's Mercy Hospital, along with an adult, who is listed as the mother of the two-year-old.
At the hospital, the eight-year-old girl died from injuries.
According to Craig Duke, battalion chief and spokesperson for the KCKFD, four children were in the vehicle, along with two adults.
Here's his statement (via email) on the accident:
Fire crews on scene within five minutes reported one vehicle accident with two adult occupants and four children occupants between the ages of two and 12 years of age.
Information received from witnesses indicated that three of the children had been ejected from the vehicle during the accident. Off-duty JOCO Sheriff Officer and KU Medical Center Nurse on scene administering CPR to one of the victims. Crews on scene reported 3 victims unconscious upon their arrival.
One EMS unit transported 1 female (8 yrs old) emergency to Children’s; one EMS unit transported 1 male (10 yrs old) and 1 female (12 yrs old) emergency to Children’s Mercy. One EMS units transported 1 male (2 yrs old) and mother of 2 year old to Children’s Mercy.
Eight year old female transported emergency later succumbed to her injuries.
No update on status of other patients.

SUV flips over on I-635
A SUV has flipped over on Interstate 635.
The blue vehicle rolled over on the highway just north of the Parallel Parkway exit/entry ramps.
No word on injuries yet.
UPDATE (2:54 p.m.): There are no significant injuries involved in the accident.

Multiple EMS units dispatched to I-70 accident

An accident on Interstate 70 eastbound has resulted in three EMS units being dispatched to the scene.
The accident on the highway is near Interstate 635.
Above is a still camera shot courtesy of KC Scout of the scene. It's backed up traffic in one lane.
No word on how many have been injured.
UPDATE (2:40 p.m.): Indication is two children were ejected and injured from the car. A 12-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy were hurt in the accident. The injuries on the girl were described as critical. Both have been transported to a hospital.

Final tally from Interstate 435 accident: 38 cars
The Kansas Highway Patrol has posted its report from Sunday's car accident on Northbound Interstate 435.
The final toll: 38 cars were involved in the accident and there were nine injuries, ranging from minor injuries to significant injuries.
However, there were no casualties.
The accident occurred on the highway near the Kaw River. Sunday's snow was the major factor behind Sunday's accidents.

Vehicle stuck in a ditch
Because of wintery road conditions, a car is stuck in a ditch at 7330 Parkview.
No injuries, but the incident is being addressed by traffic crew members.

Car overturns on Interstate 70

At around noon today, a car turned over near the 57th Street exit on Interstate 70 West.
Police flared off about a mile of the scene. The first two photos, snapped with my cellphone, show the police closing the right lane.
The bottom photo was terribly timed and shows the tipped over vehicle. No word on injuries.
Shattered glass was near the scene as well.

KCMO resident injured in Wyandotte County accident
A Kansas City, Mo., man was injured in a Saturday morning vehicle accident in Wyandotte County.
Amos Hindsman lost control of his car due to the snow that hit the area Saturday. He hit a wall on Interstate 670 at milepost 2.5 eastbound in Kansas City, Kan.
He was transported to the University of Kansas hospital.
No other car was involved.

Accident on I-70
A car accident has been reported to EMS units on Eastbound Interstate 70 near N. 57th Street.
A Maroon Mazda was involved in the crash. The driver appears not to have been injured.

Two car accident on I-70 and K-7
A two-car accident on Interstate 70 and Kansas Highway 7 has temporarily closed down a lane.
The accident occurred on the ramp going northbound on K-7. A Honda and a yellow pickup truck were the cars involved.
No word yet on exact injuries, but the situation hasn't been classified as an emergency, which generally means injuries are relatively minor.

8-year-old identified in crash
Jaishaun Johnson has been identified as the 8-year-old child killed in last night's car accident on the intersection of N. 9th Street and Quindaro Boulevard.
Kansas City, Kan., police responded to the call of the two-car accident at 7 p.m. on Sunday. Along with Johnson, three other drivers or passengers were injured in the accident.
Jervon McCambry, 19, was traveling northbound in his vehicle on 9th Street when James Williams, Jr.,'s vehicle also entered the intersection. McCambry, Williams and passenger George F. Bush, Jr., were injured and transported to local hospitals.
Bush is a resident of Kansas City, Kan.
Johnson was a resident of Kansas City, Mo. and was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
McCambry's vehicle hit Williams' vehicle in the right front passenger door.
Car accident kills child
A Sunday evening car accident on North 9th Street and Quindaro Boulevard killed an eight-year-old child.
Kansas City, Kan., police responded to the call of a two-car accident after 7 p.m. tonight.
Multiple occupants from both vehicles, which collided in the intersection, were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The child died on the scene.
The incident is being investigated by the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Three-car accident on 42nd and State Avenue
A three-car accident has been reported to EMS units at 4200 State Avenue.
One of the cars was rolled over in the accident. No word on the extent of the injuries, but a heavy rescue unit was cancelled after initially called for.
UPDATE: There are some injuries on the scene, but none can be classified as "life threatening." One person on the scene may have a broken arm, though.

Accident reported on 18th and Central Avenue
A multi-vehicle accident involving a semi-truck an a black Subaru was reported before noon on 18th and Central Avenue
A call for a "heavy rescue" was initially made, as the car was trapped by the semi-truck.
However, the driver was able to escape the vehicle and the call was cancelled. Minor injuries have been reported.
