Court: KCK residents hit with firearm charges
Five Kansas City, Kan., residents were charged this morning in four separate cases of firearm violations.
• Lavia T. Forbes (pictured) was charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm after a felonly conviction, one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
The alleged crimes happened on Feb. 3 in KCK.
A five-year to life in prison sentence is possible for the charge of firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
• Roderick B. Sanders was charged Friday with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a user of controlled substances, and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.
The crimes Sanders are charged for allegedly occurred on Jan. 31.
He could face 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 on each count.
• John Shead, Jr. and Christopher Ramirez were both charged with unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.
The crimes they are charged for allegedly happened on Jan. 29.
Both Shead, Jr. and Ramirez could face 10 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.
• Sean Dixon was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm following a felony conviction.
Dixon's charge stems from a crime that allegedly occurred on March 20, 2007.
He could face 10 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.

KCKPD looking for Chevy Caprice
Responding to a call of an armed disturbance on 19th and Tennyson Street, Kansas City, Kan., police are looking for a white Chevy Caprice.
Four people were in the vehicle, per witnesses.
Multiple calls to the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department say one of the car-riders had a gun and was threatening to shoot at someone or something.
One call said shots were fired, but police on the scene indicated that no shots were fired. No one at the scene was injured.
The license plate number is 464-COQ.

COURT BEAT: KCK man hit with gun charge
Kansas City, Kan., resident Jeremy D. Beebe has been charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm following a felony conviction.
Beebe, 23, allegedly committed the crime on Dec. 1, 2009, in KCK. If convicted, he'll face a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison and a potential fine up to $250,000.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case.

COURT BEAT: Man charged with an abundance of crimes
Kansas City, Kan., resident Bruce Jones was charged today on several alleged crimes ranging from drugs to assault.
He was charged today with two counts of aggravated assault, cultivation of marijuana; criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance without a tax stamp and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The charges stem from an incident Dec. 16 after troopers from the Missouri Highway Patrol were threatened at gunpoint near the 1100 Block of Metropolitan in KCK.
He is currently in custody of the Wyandotte County Sheriff's office in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
COURT BEAT: KCK man charged with firearm crime
A Kansas City, Kan., man was charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm following a felony conviction.
Gary L. Wren, 23, allegedly committed the crime he is charged for on Dec. 2 in KCK.
If convicted, Wren could face a maximum penalty of 10 years and a fine up to $250,000.

COURT BEAT: KCK man charged with firearm crime
Kansas City, Kan., resident Deric A. Malone, 38, has been charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm after felony.
The alleged crime he's charged for occurred on Nov. 16 in KCK.
If Malone is convicted, he could face a maximum penalty of not less than 15 years and not more than life in federal prison. He could be fined $250,000.

COURT BEAT: Two charged with unlawful firearm possession in separate cases
Two Kansas City, Kan., residents were charged late last week in separate cases of unlawful possession of a firearm following a felony conviction.
Edward E. Moore, 20, was charged for the crime that allegedly occurred in KCK on Oct. 24.
Frederick J. Herring, 31, was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of ammunition after a felony conviction. Those crimes allegedly occurred on Oct. 30, 2008 and Jan. 6 of this year, both in KCK.
Both men could face a maximum penalty of 10 years and a fine up to $250,000.

14-year-old accident shoots herself
A 14-year-old girl in the Kansas City, Kan., area accidently shot herself Friday afternoon.
She was shot in the leg after EMS responders on the scene said she was playing with a gun. I was unable to pick up the exact location from the police scanner of where it occurred.
The injures were not described as life threatening and the teenager is expected to make a full recovery.

Shots fired on Coy Street; UPDATE: Suspect in custody
Shots were reportedly fired into a dwelling at 291 S. Coy Street in Kansas City, Kan., just after 6 p.m. tonight.
On the scene, police discovered multiple shell-casings. No one was injured.
UPDATE: There were a few occupants inside the area.

Three men charged in KCK firearm incidents
Three men were charged today with unlawful possession of a firearm following felony conviction.
• Andre Randle, 31, was charged for a crime that allegedly occurred on July 25 in Johnson County. Randle is a resident of Kansas City, Kan.
• Casey Kincaid, 21, was charged for a crime that allegedly occurred Sept. 12 in KCK.
• Robert Sanford, 34, was charged for an incident that was allegedly to occur June 15 in KCK. Sanford is a KCK resident.
If convicted, all three men could spend 10 years in prison with a fine up to $250,000. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Terra Morehead is prosecuting.

Shot fired into unoccupied vehicle
A Kansas City, Kan., police officer was called to 5125 Leavenworth Rd. after a gunshot was fired into an unoccupied car.
The officer reported on the scene that only one shot was fired and no one was in the vehicle. No injuries were reported, nor was a suspect arrested yet.
