While there are no major cancellations today in Wyandotte County, there are still some trouble spots.
Slick spots remain on Parallel Parkway this morning. Three readers have emailed issues with the street.

UPDATE: Eight-year-old dies from earlier car accident
Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department officials released more information about today's accident on I-70 East at I-635.
Among the worst news – an eight-year-old has died as a result of injuries.
Three children were ejected from a car, according to witnesses on the scene. An eight-year-old girl, 10-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl were transported to the emergency room of Children's Mercy Hospital.
Meanwhile, a two-year-old was also transported to Children's Mercy Hospital, along with an adult, who is listed as the mother of the two-year-old.
At the hospital, the eight-year-old girl died from injuries.
According to Craig Duke, battalion chief and spokesperson for the KCKFD, four children were in the vehicle, along with two adults.
Here's his statement (via email) on the accident:
Fire crews on scene within five minutes reported one vehicle accident with two adult occupants and four children occupants between the ages of two and 12 years of age.
Information received from witnesses indicated that three of the children had been ejected from the vehicle during the accident. Off-duty JOCO Sheriff Officer and KU Medical Center Nurse on scene administering CPR to one of the victims. Crews on scene reported 3 victims unconscious upon their arrival.
One EMS unit transported 1 female (8 yrs old) emergency to Children’s; one EMS unit transported 1 male (10 yrs old) and 1 female (12 yrs old) emergency to Children’s Mercy. One EMS units transported 1 male (2 yrs old) and mother of 2 year old to Children’s Mercy.
Eight year old female transported emergency later succumbed to her injuries.
No update on status of other patients.

SUV flips over on I-635
A SUV has flipped over on Interstate 635.
The blue vehicle rolled over on the highway just north of the Parallel Parkway exit/entry ramps.
No word on injuries yet.
UPDATE (2:54 p.m.): There are no significant injuries involved in the accident.

One student injured in bus, vehicle collision
KMBC Channel 9 is reporting that a school bus and three vehicles have been involved in a car accident on 57th and Parallel Parkway.
One car reportedly was traveling normal speed on Parallel Parkway when it hit black ice on the road. The reaction of other drivers eventually led to the school bus hitting a vehicle.
According to Channel 9, one student hurt a knee. However, no additional injuries were reported.

Accidents, slick roads being reported all over
Bridges, exit and entrance ramps and side streets are starting to get a little nasty.
Here are some accidents over the past hour or so. There are a few more, but I haven't received enough information on them yet.
- Interstate 635 and State Avenue: A one vehicle which caused no injuries. The black vehicle slid into a ditch near the exit and entrance ramp areas.
- Interstate 635 and Interstate 70: A similar accident happened. No injury.
- 18th and Steele Road: An accident caused minor injuries.
- A minor accident was reported on Interstate 435 somewhere in Wyandotte County.
Along with those accidents and others mentioned earlier today, numerous slick roads are being reported and road crews are being called out to address slick spots.
Needless to say, proceed with caution.

Head on collision accident on Kansas Avenue bridge
A heavy rescue unit has been called out to a two-car accident on the Kansas Avenue bridge above the Kansas river.
One party is described as trapped in a vehicle. According to respondents at the scene, it was a head on collision.
Everyone in the second vehicle have exited the vehicle.
UPDATE: The trapped victim is being transported to a local hospital. She is suffering from "head trauma" and is complaining of major pain in her left hip area.

Two injured in I-635 accident
As a follow-up to yesterday's post, a driver and a passenger were each injured last night in an accident on Interstate 635 and Leavenworth Road.
The accident occurred after 7 p.m. last night on Northbound I-635, about a tenth of a mile north of Leavenworth Road.
According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, a vehicle traveling 10-15 mph on the far side of the highway was rear-ended by a vehicle traveling 45-50 mph.
Ciara R. Glasgow, the driver of rear-ended vehicle, along with Leilani Denney, were both transported to local hospitals to address injuries.
A second passenger of the vehicle that rear-ended Glasgow's was not injured.

Blizzard traffic log, part two
More accident reports have been made available from last week's storm. Again, all listed accidents were attributable to the weather.
- Interstate 70 and N. 110th Street: A vehicle was traveling westbound on the interstate when it lost control due to the snow and ice and hit the median. No injury.
- Interstate 635 and Metropolitan: A vehicle lost control near the area because of snowy roads and hit the median.
- N. 8th Street and Cleveland Avenue: A single vehicle incident occurred after the vehicle slid off the road and struck a utility poll.

The first blizzard traffic log

As expected, there were a healthy amount of traffic incidents related to last week's snow storm. All accidents occurred in part due to road conditions, per Kansas City, Kan., police reports.
Here are the first reports. If more reports are available later this week, they will be published.
The log:
- 55th Street and Miami Avenue: Two cars involved, one was unable to stop and rear-ended another.
- N. 18th Street and Park Drive: A car slid on the street and struck a second vehicle.
- The intersection of N. 59th Street and Yecker Avenue.
- A driver hit a BPU utility pole on S. 78th Street and Speaker Road. The incident was classified as a hit-and-run.
- Interstate 35 and 2400 Block of US-69: A driver lost control, hit a median and then struck a second vehicle.
- A parked car was struck by a driver in a parking lot on S. 47th Street. The driver fled the scene.
- Interstate 635: A vehicle overturned on the highway because of ice.
- Icy roads caused an accident near Interstate 435 and Parallel Parkway. One vehicle was unable to slow down because of ice after a second vehicle attempted to make a lane change.
- A three car incident was created because of an icy parking lot at Village West.
- 91st Street and Leavenworth Road: One vehicle lost control and hit a second one.
- 130th Street and State Avenue: After hitting a foot-deep, snow packed area on the street, a car was hit by a second vehicle traveling on the same road.
- N. 55th Street and Miami Avenue: A car was unable to stop at a stop sign and struck a second vehicle.
- N. 110th Street and Stadium Parkway: A vehicle slid into another.
- 2800 Block of Merriam Lane
- Parallel Parkway and N. 104th Street: Two vehicle incident caused by icy roads.
- N. 18th Street and Grandview Boulevard: Two vehicle accident involving the intersection and icy roads.
- N. 7th Street and Tenny: A hit-and-run was reported at the scene after a car rear-ended another on a snow packed street.
- Interstate 70 near Park Drive: A vehicle lost control after hitting ice and struck the highway's guard rail.
- Interstate 435 and Leavenworth Road: A vehicle, working to avoid an accident near the scene, hit ice and flipped to its side. No one was injured.

Two new accidents
There are two more traffic accidents to report as we near 5 p.m.
- An accident has been reported near Eastbound Interstate 70 and Interstate 635. A female driver, who was trapped by the accident, was exiting I-70 when the accident occurred. A "heavy rescue" was ordered to the scene.
- A single-car accident on 81st and Leavenworth Road.
